Oyo has announced that it will add 500 Hotels in Ayodhya, Puri, and other religious places in India. The hospitality Tech Start-up is planning to leverage the growing spiritual tourism in India, especially after the opening up of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Oyo is keeping a special focus on Ayodhya as it plans to add 150 hotels in the area. The city has witnessed a significant jump in footfall after the inauguration of the Ram Temple on Jan 24. Not only this, Ayodhya was one of most searched new location in Dec 24.
This is reflected in Oyo’s app searches for Ayodhya jumping to 39%. On Jan 22, thousands of devotees are expected to arrive for the 1st anniversary of consecration.
Not just Ayodhya, Oyo is planning to expand to other pilgrim sites, with 100 hotels in Varanasi, followed by 50 hotels each in Prayagraj, Haridwar & Puri. For Mahakumbh, the booking requests are already double Oyo’s current capacity in Prayagraj. The remaining properties will be launched strategically across India. Oyo is introducing most of these hotels under the ‘company service’ category. Thus actively getting involved in hotel operations and servicing for better customer experience.

Varun Jain, chief operating officer, of OYO India, said “We are collaborating with the tourism departments of all major states to better understand their specific needs and priorities. Our focus is on launching strategically located hotels, particularly in key religious centers, to cater to the growing demand for high-quality accommodations among pilgrims and visitors. We are also actively monitoring emerging trends in religious tourism, including shifts in visitor preferences, seasonal travel patterns, and the growing popularity of lesser-known pilgrimage destinations,”

Oyo Planning To Launch IPO In 2025
OYO is preparing to launch its IPO. The NBFC has Filed a DRHP(Draft Red Herring Prospectus) with SEBI. OYO IPO aims to raise ₹8,430 crores. This will include an offer for sale of about Rs. 1,430 crores and a fresh issue equity share sale of Rs. 7,000 crores.
